Taego Ãwa

77 min, Portuguese/Ãwa, DOC, Brazil, 2016

Synopsis

5 VHS tapes found in a closet at a college, trigger the desire of this film. Years later, provided of more records, we meet the Ãwa’s at the Bananal Island. We take with us the memory of the banishment to which the Tupi people that most resisted colonization on Central Brazil were exposed. The images were seen, felt and more imagens came out of this meeting  during the struggle for Taego Ãwa. In this film, the Ãwa’s indigenous (known as the Avá-canoeiros from Araguaia River), tell their journey of exile since the contact with white people in 1973.
